What Winter/Spring Training is

This is a training season, not a one-day clinic and not registration for an individual cross-country meet. Triathlon training and the Winter Running Program are separate sign-ups. The GFF Tri Team membership fee is also separate; that payment stays on the GFF Tri Team page.

Try a Tri

Who it is for

  • Youth athletes ages 6–18, all skill levels. Younger athletes need coach approval — ask about Winter/Spring Training.
  • Kids coming off Fall Cross Country, triathletes, track athletes, and beginners.
  • Families who can commit to weekday indoor sessions once the calendar is published in TeamSnap.

What athletes can expect

  • Coach-led swim, bike, run, and strength work, plus dedicated running coaching.
  • Flexible attendance when the calendar is live: athletes come to the sessions that fit their week.
  • Optional racing later in the year. GFF athletes often use Winter/Spring Training as a base for events such as the Reindeer Race and spring triathlon season. Racing is not required.
  • Fees, session counts, and month-to-month options are listed with enrollment.

How families stay up to date

After you register, GFF adds athletes to the Winter/Spring Training team in TeamSnap. That is where families find the practice calendar, coach messages, and weather notes once the calendar is published.

Questions families ask

How do we enroll?

Choose the matching button. Try a Tri is for athletes new to triathlon and bills as a recurring monthly charge from January 10 through May 30, 2027. Regular Season: 12 and Under and Regular Season: 13 and Up are separate triathlon sign-ups, each a recurring monthly charge from November 1, 2026 through May 30, 2027. Winter Running Program is a separate running program with a one-time fee from January 1 through April 30, 2027. Dollar amounts are on the registration page.

Is this triathlon, running, or both?

They are separate sign-ups. Try a Tri and both regular-season age groups are triathlon training. Winter Running Program is not triathlon training.

Where will we train?

Rose E. Schneider Family YMCA, Cranberry Township

Can we bring a stroller or a dog to training?

No. Winter/Spring Training sessions are for registered athletes and coaches in indoor training spaces, not a stroller or dog activity.

Ask through the contact form. Get Fit Families does not apply the holiday-race refund rule to Winter/Spring Training.
