Key Role: Assist athletes in locating their race packet information by referring to provided spreadsheets. The information is alphabetized by last name and sorted by race distance.
Important Information to Know:
~ Athletes MUST pick up their own packets (unless a parent/guardian is picking up for a child under 18).
~ Required documents each athlete must show: Photo ID and current proof of USA Triathlon membership.
~ ~ Membership options: One-day, yearly, or lifetime membership.
~ ~ ~ Athletes can access their membership details here.
~ Each packet includes: A swim cap, race numbers, and a transition bracelet.
~ Timing chips will be distributed on race morning.

Key Role:
~ Hand out timing chips, matching the chip number to the athlete's race number.
~ Distribute race day packets, ensuring athletes who haven't pre-paid fees pay on the spot.
~ Address registration problems, redirecting complex issues to the volunteer coordinator.
~ Answer race day questions.
~ Assist in getting athletes to the start line on time.

Key Role:
~ Properly mark all athletes with body markings.
~ This job involves writing on people’s bodies with a marker!
Important Information to Know:
~ Body Marking Locations:
~ ~ Race number: both arms.
~ ~ Age: right calf.
~ ~ S, D, AB, AV, O: left calf.
~ ~ ~ ~ S = Sprint.
~ ~ ~ ~ D = Duathlon.
~ ~ ~ ~ AB = Aqua Bike.
~ ~ ~ ~ AV = Adventure.
~ ~ ~ ~ O = Olympic.
Helmet Requirements and Bike Check:
~ Pass along information about the helmet requirements.
~ Helmets must have a properly working chinstrap.
~ Once the race begins, as soon as an athlete is in possession of their bike off the rack, the helmet and chinstrap must be securely fastened.
Remind athletes about the pre-race ABCs for a bike check:
~ Ensure AIR in the tires is inflated to the proper PSI.
~ Ensure BRAKES are working properly.
~ Make sure the CHAIN doesn't have any grime and is lubricated properly.

Key Role:
~ Ensure only registered athletes enter the Transition Area (i.e., they have their number and have been body marked).
~ Ensure athletes enter and exit the correct way in and out of the corral.
~ Maintain order to prevent family members, non-athletes, pets, friends, etc., from entering transition.
~ Ensure non-athletes stay out of the way of athletes.
Important Information to Know:
~ This role requires a firm yet kind approach with people.
~ This is an excellent opportunity for individuals new to the sport to learn the ins and outs of how things operate.

Key Role:
~ Set up before the race.
~ Help cook and manage the lunch line when athletes and volunteers are getting their food.
~ Assist in cleaning up after the event.
Important Information to Know:
~ Coordination and teamwork are essential for a smooth operation of the food booth.
~ Ensure a clean and organized setup for efficient service.
~ This is specifically for Joella's parents.

Key Role:
~ Assist on the lake by watching athletes, ensuring their safety, and patrolling the swim.
~ Ensure a safe and controlled swim environment.
Important Information to Know:
~ Bring your own kayak or paddle board.
~ No need to be a lifeguard.
~ Larry Babcock is the main contact and will conduct a meeting by the water to provide instructions.
Additional Safety Measures:
~ Keep a close eye on swimmers, especially those showing signs of distress.
~ Athletes can hold on to watercraft but cannot have any forward progress.

Key Role:
~ Keep a count of swimmers.
~ Ensure the same number exits as entered.
~ Collaborate with each other to ensure accurate counts.
~ Report the counts to the race director.
Important Information to Know:
~ Teamwork is crucial to maintaining accurate swim counts.
~ Promptly report any discrepancies to the race director.

Key Role:
~ Ensure cyclists get on/off their bikes at the appropriate time in relation to the line.
Important Information to Know:
~ Mount Line:
~ ~ Athletes need to get on their bike after the line.
~ ~ Athletes are not allowed to get on their bikes in transition; they need to run with their bikes and get on it after the mount line.
~ Dismount Line:
~ ~ Athletes need to get off their bike before the line.
~ ~ After dismounting, athletes need to run their bike back to the rack and re-rack it for the run portion of the race.
~ The line is the same for both mount and dismount lines.

Key Role:
~ Lead all cyclists in a vehicle on the bike course.
~ Need to be familiar with the bike course.
Important Information to Know:
~ Two people are needed for this role, one for the Sprint race and one for the Olympic race.

Key Role:
~ Stationed at bike course intersections, turns, or U-turns.
~ Direct athletes with hand and voice signals.
~ Report any on-course emergency issues.
~ Act as the eyes and ears for the 3-mile bike course in both directions.
Important Information to Know:
~ Volunteers drive themselves to assigned spots.
~ Text/call the volunteer coordinator to be released.
~ Bring a chair, drinks, and essentials; they won't be provided.

Key Role:
~ Lead all runners with a bicycle on the run course.
~ Need to be familiar with the run course.
Important Information to Know:
~ Two people are needed for this role, one for the Sprint race and one for the Olympic race.

Key Role:
~ Hand out water, additional drinks, and food on the course.
~ Report to medical if there are any issues.
~ Bring a speaker and play music if you can.
~ Cheer on the runners, keep them motivated, as the run is the last leg, and they are tired.
Important Information to Know:
~ Bring a chair, drinks/food, sunblock, maybe a book, and essentials; they won't be provided.

~ Take off the timing chip when athletes cross the finish line.
~ Hand out finisher medals, finisher towels, shirts, and water.
~ Ensure everything is organized before athletes start finishing to prevent congestion.
~ Make sure all shirts are organized by size.
~ Group the rest of the giveaways together for easy distribution.
Important Information to Know:
~ It helps to have everything organized beforehand to streamline the process.

~ Help Joella hand out awards by passing them to her as she calls the winners.
~ Organize all the awards to facilitate easy distribution.
~ Ensure Joella has the names of the winners organized.
~ Attend to any additional needs she may have during this time, as there are a lot of awards.
Important Information to Know:
~ Coordination and organization are crucial to efficiently manage the awards ceremony.

~ Take down all aspects of the race.

~ Ensure that the event area is left in a clean and orderly condition.
~ The goal is to make it look like we were never there.
